We need you to tell momma ’nem – and everybody else! UMF is being planned and designed to support and uplift the community of Austin – and we need the community’s support in helping spread the word. We have a full slate of activities happening Relays Weekend and collectively – we need to make sure everyone is informed. Here’s how you can help!

1. Each one brings two!

Invite a friend, neighbor or family member to come to UMF with you. We’ll have food vendors serving up turkey legs, bbq wraps, fried catfish – and lots more. Plus – there will be vendors selling arts and crafts, old school artists performing hits from back in the day – headlined by the original diva – Chaka Khan. Hip hop/R&B artist Ray J will make sure fans of hip hop are satisfied. Comedian Joe Torry will serve as your host for the day keeping the stage flowing. We will have a huge Family Park area with kid attractions, face painting, an Xbox 360 Gaming Tournament; a Throwback Gaming Tournament, the Dell Technology Tent, a family photo booth and more!

There is LITERALLY something at UMF for all of your friends and family to enjoy. Getting them to join you should be a pretty easy sale!

2. Each one tell two!

Tell your family, friends, co-workers and church family! Encourage them to subscribe to our e-mail newsletter, or browse our events page to see the complete listing of events happening all over Austin during UMF weekend.

You can call them, fax them, text them, IM them – or forward the link from our website. We don’t care how you tell them – just tell them if you can. (Sorry Oleta – we couldn’t resist.) Tell them to visit www.urbanmusicfest.com early and often as we continually add to and improve the UMF weekend experience!

3. Print and post a flyer!

Print, post or pass around a flyer. Give them to your friends, or put some up on bulletin boards at your school, job, church, health food store, community center or neighborhood library. Pass them around at a meeting or party. We can also provide large quantities of flyers, posters and postcards on request – email your request to info@urbanmusicfest.com and we’ll get them to you!

3. Fwd!

Forward the newsletter (after you have signed up to receive it of course!) to your friends, colleagues, discussion groups or e-mail list. This can be a great way to introduce people to UMF. Write a few words at the top, explaining that it's a sample copy and that to receive future editions they should subscribe direct. If you operate or participate in another e-mail list, consider forwarding each edition as it comes out. This will give people some time to notice and get familiar with it (many will like it, even if they won't take the trouble to subscribe themselves). If you stop forwarding at some point, it's a good idea to send one last message inviting them to subscribe themselves.

If you see something on a page on our site of particular interest to someone you know, forward it to them! Each page of the website contains a handy “Tell-A-Friend” button that lets you zap a quick message with the direct link to the page. At the top of your message, mention where you got it from with a sample message like: Check out what I found on UrbanMusicFest.com

6. Represent UMF!

If you’ve been told you’ve never met a stranger – and you like to go to various community events, consider representing UMF! This can be a lot of fun and is a great way to meet new people and make new contacts. It takes very little time and effort. There are various ways this can be done: passing out flyers or postcards; standing behind a table and signing up volunteers (table banners available); making an announcement. Training can be provided. Please email us at info@urbanmusicfest.com and we’ll be glad to give you all of the materials and coaching you will need.

7. Newsletters & Community Newspapers

Do you publish a newsletter, magazine or newspaper, or know somebody else who does? Our listings can add interesting and graphically appealing content to your publication. Send us an email to info@urbanmusicfest.com and tell us your deadlines and we’ll be happy to provide camera-ready artwork and text to you.

8. Post a web link or banner!

Do you have an events or multi-cultural website or know someone else who does? Feel free to create a text link or display a banner ad linked to UrbanMusicFest! Select a banner from the ones below and right click on it to save it to your desktop.
